The north and west coasts of Portugal have long been popular surfing destinations whilst the south Algarve area with its bays and coves is a popular package holiday summer destination. It's miles of coast lines also have some great kitesurfing beaches especially if you're looking at practising your waveriding skills.

The Algarve offers excellent conditions from May till September, the predominant wind is northwest. Usually during morning the wind strength is between 10 till 20 knots, increasing at 14H to 25 till 35 knots, except certain days that the wind are constant from southwest with 10 to 30 knots. During winter usually the wind arrives from southwest with 15 to 35 knots. Sometimes the wind it's from southeast (from North Africa) with 10 to 40 knots of strength.
